Background Information

As an MBA candidate at the DeGroote School of Business with an interest in Health Services Management, I am particularly fascinated by history as it relates to health care. I received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with a Medial in Psychology and English from Queen's University in 2013. My time in this program gave me an appreciation for the development of mental health care around the world; one of my favourite courses was on the History of Psychology. I have recently registered to participate as a Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) e-Volunteer, where I hope to explore my interest in the evolution of health and mental health care throughout the ages. A 'sub-interest' of mine that is related to health is death in different cultures (ie. death rituals).

Relevant Experience

Writing and Editing

Throughout my academic career, there has been a focus on professional writing through essays, assignments and reports, in both the arts and sciences. I also employed these skills in my workplace, where I handled multiple communications (traditional and electronic) at any one time.

Research

As a student in English, I honed my ability to navigate databases containing information spanning centuries. In psychology, my research emphasized more recent studies to maximize relevance. In the workplace, my communication assignments required accurate backup research on topics that were often of a political nature.

Other Interests

Scuba Diving - successful dives in two countries, PADI Open Water Diver Course (near completion)

Geocaching - member of the Ontario Geocaching Association

Rock-climbing - completed the highest indoor climb in Canada (Boiler Room, Kingston, ON)
