I got the nickname years ago in a chatroom run in MSN, before they closed them all down. Emoticons had just come out, the bat was not on the published list and I knew it... People loved it but I wouldn't share - one user said "Steve is the bat king" and it stuck.

Yes you can tell from above I like historical military books but I read a wide mix of genres. Writers such as Harry Harrison, Stephen King, JRR Tolkein, Charles Dickens, George Orwell, John Wyndham (to name a few) have previously been my favourites, no particular order and I must admit that 'favourites' has at time been fleeting but mostly due to the variety of my reading (I read a lot of genres it doesn't give much time to having lots of 'favourites')

I have played tabletop games since February 1984. Playing many, many different rule systems (including most versions of Dungeons and Dragons).

I was a playtester and proof reader for Darkwood by Tower Games. Some of my creations were included in the main rulebook and some of the supporting works. I'm particularly fond of a certain Eleanore.

I used to roleplay online on several Play by Forum games but this fell by the wayside. Before this I used to play several Play be E-mail games but it seems that things in that area have slowly drifted to Forums.

I have played a few MMORPGs - such as Neverwinter Nights, my favourite character on there was Colt Starkey on the Anphillia server. I also played City of Heroes (and indeed Villains) where my favourite characters were Drake Kane, Rutger Stoneskin, Iscar and Bat King (no that is not where I first used the name) - miss that game.

I also have done some Live Roleplaying - commonly referred to as LRP or LARP. I played in the Cataclysm system most famously as Prosser, the local Monk (honest I'm a Monk, no don't let my halbard and sword put you off, I am a Monk).

Online I play Stargatewars - I'm Gruumsh on there.

Offline but still on the PC I love Civilisation (I've played since Civ II and obviously am currently on Civ IV).

Offline I love Risk!.

Again far too detailed to really go into detail.

However I will say that Star Wars (the one now referred to as Episode IV: A New Hope) left an amazing influential effect on a young lad in 1977.

I currently look forward to comic adaptations - I still shudder at the Judge Dredd movie though. Dredd (2012) was great. Looking forward to the Mega City One TV show and Rogue Trooper movie.

From the comment about films above, yes I do read 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine.

I also like Flash, X-Men and too many others to actually buy.
