Hi y'all!
I'm Apteryx, I'm just some RainWing who figured out how to use a laptop. Yes, my name is the scientific name of the kiwi bird, that is intentional since they are my favorite animal behind the dragon. I'm a WikiDragon-WikiGnome thing that makes big edits but I also pay attention to details like spelling and grammar. Sometimes I go back and reword sentences though. Don't believe the propaganda about us WikiDragons, we like being petted.
Notes on my editing style
I am a part of the welcoming committee, so I will sometimes have massive bursts of 25-50 edits where I go through the user creation log and place welcome messages on the talk pages of new accounts that have contributed. Yes, I know it looks like editcountitis, but I just want to help new users out. I've been doing this less since reaching EC status, because I now have the permissions I need to work on whatever articles I want, unimpeded by vandalism protections, but I plan to sometimes go through the user creation log and welcome a few people every now and then.
I exclusively use the visual editor because my brain is the size of a grape and it can't grasp the concept of wikitext, although you will occasionally see the "switched" tag in my edit history when I attempt to do something with the source editor that the visual editor is incapable of (such as repositioning userboxes on my userpage or correcting something on a Talk page).
I am a very indecisive writer, and you will often see me rephrasing my sentences until I am happy with them. Sometimes when I am writing, I get so caught up in the flow of "what comes after this sentence/paragraph" that I forget to re-read what I already wrote before I publish it. I also have a tendency to add useless inline links that I then remove as I reread my work and judge which links are helpful. I know it again looks like editcountitis, but that's not the case. I just am dumb.
I could probably go on for a dozen more paragraphs about myself, but I also like to have a readable user page, so feel free to ask anything on my talk page. If the banner at the top of the page isn't clear enough, please trout me if I do something dumb. Have a nice day, nerds!
