The objectives of the Employment Relations Institute of South Africa and of this site are to provide resources and up to date information to parties involved in employment relations in South Africa including employers, trade unions, CCMA and bargaining councils and present the information in a user friendly manner so that the resources provided are accessible to practitioners.

These objectives are met by:- • Publishing books on various employment relations issues such as the law and practice of unfair dismissal, evidence in disciplinary hearings and arbitrations, the law of promotion of employees, terms and conditions of employment, labour dispute resolution and so on. The advantage of subscribing to these books is that they are updated monthly as case law and legislation develops.

• Providing training in which relevant knowledge, skills and values on the above topics are provided.

• Providing resources such as access to all relevant Employment Legislation including regulations, and Sectoral Determinations.

• Publishing the Employment Relations Review. This is a monthly journal of articles and resources in which various employment relations topics are discussed.

In addition subscribers will be invited to attend seminars and workshops on employment relations issues at discounted rates.

The site is navigated is a number of ways. A Google search engine is attached so that users may search the site using this standard and well known method. Furthermore, the Road Map section will assist by leading users through particular labour disputes. An Index section is presently being worked on which will provide an index to the books and the articles published in the Review.

The site is cost effective in that it is not necessary for subscribers to continuously purchase reference material, case law, text books and legislation. The site is current as it is updated monthly as case law, legislation changes. A subscriber need look no further than this site for comprehensive, current and accessible information, knowledge and skills in the employment relations field.
