Mackage

Mackage is a Canadian mens, womens and childrens outerwear designer brand based out of Montreal, Quebec. Mackage was launched in 1999 by two designers, Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan[1]. Since then, Mackage has grown to become one of the most prestigious contemporary outwear brands in North America. Mackage outerwear specializes in sexy detailing and tailored cuts in leather, puffy and wool. In 2012, Mackage expanded into children outerwear with their Mackage Mini collection In 2013, Mackage introduced their handbag collection. In addition to outerwear, Mackage also has an accessories collection and has expanded their outerwear to include clothing pieces such as jackets and pants. Mackage is exclusively distributed in boutiques, department stores and renowned online retailers, such as Aritzia[2], Holt Renfrew[3], and Mendocino[4]. Mackage is sold in over twenty countries in three continents. Mackage's flagship store is in the Soho district in New York. Mackage's parent company is APP Group and their sister brand is Soia & Kyo.[5]


Celebrities like Johnny Depp, Halle Berry, Eva Mendes, Jessica Biel, John Legend, Gwyneth Paltrow[6], and Lindsay Lohan have been spotted sporting Mackage.[7]


Mackage unveiled their Spring Summer Collection of apparel and handbags at Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion Week 2014.[8]


Down and Fabrics Properties

Mackage jackets are filled with Textcote Nano Down. Down is a three dimensional structure that contains thousands of air pockets known for its high insulation qualities. Mackage uses a special application of filling down into jackets called the Textcote Down Treatment. This application provides the down with unique benefits such as being light and comfortable, quick to dry, prevents bacterial growth, improves fill power, more durable against washes and enhances thermal performance.[9] The Textcote Nano Down is double the volume compared to other jackets that use down. The down is a blend of duck down (80/20) and feather (90/10). The down fill power ranges from 650 to 750.[10]

Mackage also uses DuPont™ ComforMax™ Classic fiberfill. This multi-layer structure is composed of microfibers evenly distributed in air pockets, allowing the jackets to be lightweight and breathable. The numerous layers work to prevent micro-fiber movement which creates a superior level of warm.[11] Mackage also incorporates specially treated shells, breathable down bags and linings. These components allow bod humidity to escape while maintaining a high level of comfort.[12] Mackage fabrics are treated with a DuPontTM Teflon® based DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. This special finish allows for Mackage jackets to be water repellant and oil spot free.[13]
