Robin Tan Yew Chai was born in Malacca, Malaysia, aged 54. His doctorate in philosophy and 20 years of experience in the media industry have secured him a vantage point in viewing and contributing to the many signigicant milestones that HWT Group has reached and celebrated over the years. Presently, he is the founder and chairman of HWT Group with businesses in the finance, media, and education.

Having carved a niche for himself in the media industry, Robin Tan Yew Chai is now a household name, thanks to his creativity in injecting a breath of fresh air into the craft. He is also a highly passionate philanthropist who has garnered deep respect for his outstanding nation-building and humanitarian efforts. Carrying on his legacy and making an impact in the media field are two of his children, Jodness and Mars, have followed in their successful father's footstep[s by becoming members of the corporation's board. He is married to Jenny Hoon Choon Wah.
