Template talk:New York Yankees
Minor league affiliatesShould this template (below) be somehow incorporated into this big one with all the other Yankees info? Averyisland 14:54, 6 July 2007 (UTC) where's joe torre?you'd think he should be in there.--Kangaru99 (talk) 22:34, 31 March 2008 (UTC) Shea StadiumI've removed Shea from the template for the simple reason that it was a temporary and not permanent home ballpark for the Yankees. Obviously, they played two seasons there due to the renovations at the original Yankee Stadium, but to include it here is kind of technical and may mislead the reader. My rationale for excising it here is the same as why Miller Field is not listed in the templates for the Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros and Giants Stadium for the New Orleans Saints. These teams may have played home games at the aforementioned venues, but they were never their actual home stadiums.-PassionoftheDamon (talk) 19:37, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Jackie RobinsonRobinson's #42 belongs in the Yankees template, even though Mariano still wears it. #42 was retired by ALL of MLB, and is thus in all teams' templates. The Yanks should be no exeception. Jackie's #42 is in Monument Park along with all the other retired numbers. Also the Yanks retired #8 twice, so it stands to reason that 42 will also when Rivera retires. Richiekim (talk) 05:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC) That's all well and good, but I disagree with your removing Jackie Robinson's 42. As I've written above, EVERY MLB team's template on Wikipedia has his retired number, and there's no good reason to exclude it from the Yankee's template. Also keep in mind that Robinson's retired number is mentioned in the main New York Yankees article as well as Monument Park. - Richiekim (talk) 23:50, 30 June 2009 (UTC) Important FiguresI'm going to do some trimming, as this section is currently overly long. We don't have to list every single guy that ever played for the Yankees. — Dino Velvet 8MM (talk) 20:05, 29 June 2009 (UTC) Team Captain to Key Personnel SectionI think it is a notable inclusion. When there is no team captain, the section can be deleted. Arnabdas (talk) 19:48, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
HELP!!!!!!!I messed up the color scheme! I wanted to create a new template by using the code of this existing one, and in the process accidentally saved over this one. Now I cannot get this back to normal. Please help!!! Arnabdas (talk) 17:53, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
"Formerly the New York Highlanders"Taking this out of the top of the template - according to the team's history page "Highlanders" was not an official nickname. If we're going to add unofficial nicknames we should also include "Americans" at least, and then the thing will get too crowded. SixFourThree (talk) 17:10, 12 December 2017 (UTC)SixFourThree The DoubleAlthough The Double is part of Seattle Mariners lore, the only reason I added a link to the article from the New York Yankees template is because they were part of the game. It also led to a fallout from the strike from the previous season. SnoopyAndCharlieBrown202070 (talk) 23:59, 3 November 2023 (UTC) |
