Purpose
This template is designed for instances where the extinction dagger cannot be displayed next to a taxon correctly due to preformatting in the taxobox.
This template also has valuable semantic meaning: encoded in the template is a title attribute that reads "Extinct", which isn't present if an extinction dagger is simply typed out. The template emits the following HTML:
<abbr title="Extinct" aria-label="Extinct" style="border: none; text-decoration: none; cursor: inherit; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal;">†</abbr>
