Reliability of www.lexpress.fr with majuscule accents
There seems to be a problem with whether e.g. L'Express website qualifies as "best such source" "reliable for the statement being made" as per the Definition of "reliable source" on Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Lets see how the website does on Étienne, Émile, Édouard, Édith, Élisabeth per French orthography:
- Saint-Étienne fr:Saint-Étienne but Résultats de l'élection présidentielle 2012 - Saint-Etienne (42000 - Rhône-Alpes)
...seems that L'Express is pretty random. This illustrates yet again the problem of taking websites as authorities for spelling. This isn't a bad magazine, I used to subscribe myself many moons ago. Its news content is excellent. But it's never been strong on proofreading or consistent orthography. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:20, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Eric Joisel → Éric Joisel – per Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/France & French-related, and WP:IRS preferring the cover of the book Éric Joisel, le magicien de l'origami "best such source" "reliable for the statement being made" over the inconsistent www.lexpress.fr approach to majuscule accents. Plus consistency with fr:Éric Joisel and other French Érics. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:37, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
