Talk:Working mass

“In a car the engine provides power to the wheels, which then accelerates the Earth backward to make the car move forward. This is not the case for most rockets however, where the rocket propellant is the working mass, as well as the energy source.”

Is this section a joke? Accelerate the Earth backwards? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1010:B046:D53A:E53C:E100:4540:57BC (talk) 16:58, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

not all rockets have fuel and remass as the same thing

for example, NERVA drives use plutonium as fuel, and the remass is sperate. Ion Drives have reaction mass, but no fuel at all (unless you count the electricity)
