Talk:Vocation

Merge proposal, December 2023

I propose merging Religious calling into Vocation. Both articles are rated Start-class, and there is significant overlap in their content.

I worry that the existence of two separate articles seems to represent a WP:POVFORK. In particular, although the Religious calling entry discusses vocation in multiple denominations, the WikiProject LDS "supports" the entry, and the LDS template was at the bottom of the page until I removed it today. It seems that one article covering both entries could go some way to improving the quality of the topic's coverage on Wikipedia by synthesising the information on both entries. WP:LDS can make a separate entry specific to the LDS church if there is sufficient source material to support it. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 13:41, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disputed Textual Reference, January 2026

In the section which has the heading sense, the second paragraph is worded as if the statement made is undisputed fact.

However, many commentaries do not agree with this explanation of the meaning of the verse reference and some specifically deny this explanation.

Among those which specifically deny this explanation are:

Ellicott's

Meyer's

Expositor's Greek Testament

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges

Pulpit Commentary

Vincent's Word Studies

Dictionary Theological Interpretation of the Bible p.94
