The description on this page is in conflict with at least the first twenty hits for "trellis plot", "trellis graphics", and "trellis chart" that appear on a Google search. Unless there are references added backing the current definition, I suggest that this page is replaced with a more conventional description of the term, or erased in the mean time. --Pmg (talk) 08:45, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
A bit about trellises in graph theory and probabilistic modeling can be found in the article "Factor graphs and the sum-product algorithm": http://vision.unipv.it/IA2/Factor%20graphs%20and%20the%20sum-product%20algorithm.pdf It seems that this article also provides references to applications in coding theory and also Kalman Filtering . I don't know how is it correct to paste references and citations to Wikipedia, so I just provide this article if it helps. 93.175.5.153 (talk) 12:32, 9 March 2016 (UTC) Sergey
I don't find the example illustration very helpful as it stands. Why are the node contents replicated in each column? What is the significance of the red path? 82.3.54.26 (talk) 11:20, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
