Unsupported claim about looking at other stars within 10 parsecs
Current version of the article says "TOLIMAN will focus on stars within 10 parsecs (32.6 light years) of the Sun" with the source given as this ABC News article, but I see no reference in the article to looking at any other star systems other than the Alpha Centauri system, and a keyword search shows it doesn't use the word "parsec". The original 2021 TOLIMAN proposal did include the line "Although thousands of planetary systems are known, astronomers have scant knowledge of temperate rocky planets; not a single Earth-analog orbiting a Sun-like star has been detected within 10 pc." But it doesn't appear they're saying this because the plan was ever to search other star systems within 10 parsecs, they were just commenting on why it would be a significant discovery if TOLIMAN could find one orbiting Alpha Centauri A, which is G-type star same as our Sun. Unless any better sources can be found, IMO this sentence should be deleted, and the last part of the first sentence might be changed to "mission concept aimed at detecting of exoplanets in the Alpha Centauri system via the astrometry method." (The ABC News reference could be added to the end of this sentence.) Hypnosifl (talk) 16:04, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
