Talk:Steam

modern steam turbines are used to generate more than 80% of the world's electricity

I doubted this statistic and found several online references also refuting this, but was unable to find a reliable reference with accurate data. Can anyone help out and correct this? 206.74.219.28 (talk) 15:41, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

i can only find this but wording is little bit different
Steam-based generation produces 80 percent of the world's electricity.
this source little bit different
https://www.historytools.org/concepts/how-do-steam-turbines-work
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), steam turbines accounted for over 60% of global electricity generation in 2020
finding that source is actually a bit more difficult
i find this but only for us
https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/electricity/how-electricity-is-generated.php
Steam turbines are used to generate most of the world’s electricity, and they accounted for about 42% of U.S. electricity generation in 2022
