Pad A and B or Pad 1 and 2

Its been discussed widely among the spaceflight community that at Starbase, the Launch Pads are actually numbered 1 and 2, not A and B. A and B have been assumed since the first pad was built at Starbase, but now we are increasingly seeing references to Pad 2, such as from SpaceX employee Dan Huot,[1] Starship Gazer has also made numerous references to Pad 2 during its construction.

So, do we update the naming scheme to Pad 1 and Pad 2 (so OLP-1 and OLP-2, Integration Tower 1 and 2 etc)? I know it will be a tedious update.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't seen this discussed anywhere else. TheCosmicNebula (talk) 04:32, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pad A -> Pad 1 should be implemented. Redacted II (talk) 00:19, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am implementing this as per SpaceX's latest tweet https://x.com/SpaceX/status/1951030322767994912 TheCosmicNebula (talk) 21:28, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In order not to confuse less knowledgeable readers (which is the purpose of Wikipedia, right?;-) the article should then be augmented with a small naming section as the *rest* of the Internet, e.g. Launch videos on YouTube, still has references to the "old" (and/or errorneous?) pad names.
I'd be happy to give it a go - OR let anyone feeling that this article is theirs do it, e.g. TheCosmicNebula that did the Pad A/B to 1/2 change(?)

I am happy to add a section that clarifies older references to the Pad naming scheme. TheCosmicNebula (talk) 07:59, 25 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. As mentioned I think it would be useful. How about something like:
"OLP naming: Note that OLP 1 and 2 have previously been erroneously but rather extensively referred to as OLP A and B respectively both here on Wikipedia and in several external resources where the erroneous naming persists."
- at the end of the Launch site section and so that OLP naming appears in the Contents list to give uneducated readers a chance to find it(?) FlemFred (talk) 16:29, 30 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
