Skull roof and dermatocranium are not synonymous

The dermatocranium refers to the parts of the cranium that are derived from dermal bone as opposed to endochondral bone. This includes the skull roof, but it also includes the upper jaw and the palate. Many of the bones that are correctly part of the dermatocranium have been incorrectly stated to belong to the splanchnocranium on that page.

In addition, in humans at least, "skull roof" does not generally include the maxilla, etc. It refers to the cranial vault (tops of frontal, parietal, and occipital bones only). Bueller 007 (talk) 19:29, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The term "skull roof" is here used sesu Romer (ans sourced as such). Feel free to ad the relevant information on how the uses of the term vary from field to field! Petter Bøckman (talk) 12:12, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
