Well, I see previous editors left about two paragraphs in the "Suburbs" section that state that there are places which were erroneously declared part of Randburg by Global Positioning Systems.

Such information should be sent directly to the company (Google Maps) that made the errors and not added to this article's notes.

So, those two paragraphs, together with the sentence saying this needs to be fixed, will be erased from this article. Thanks. GeographicAccountant (talk) 08:40, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So, basically, the complaint there was that Google Maps (and consequentially Wikipedia) stated that some places are part of Randburg when they are not. What we should have done here was to simply "remove" (erase) the names that are "not part of Randburg" and not what we did of listing them in a separate paragraph like that. Wikipedia articles are not a place to complain about the errors of GIS and GPS.

Anyway, just for the sake of fixing the so-called errors, I'll make time to go to each article that was mentioned in "what I just erased" to make sure that it is not stated "in those articles" that it is a part of Randburg. I suspect the reason for this is that the Northern MLC included a number of Johannesburg suburbs during its short period of existence. This got conflated with "Randburg", and led to things like the population increasing between censuses. Park3r (talk) 23:54, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
