discontinuation

This goes from discussing manufacturing dates to discussing preservation. Presumably, use was discontinued somewhere between those. It would be nice to discuss that. Ccrrccrr (talk) 21:45, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The BR Standard Mark 1 Travelling Post Office (TPO) vans were built or converted from other types between 1959 and 1977, by which time there were 145. These comprised 96 POS, numbered 80300–95; 40 POT, numbered 80400–39; and 9 BPOT, numbered 80450–8, and all are listed in

Apart from one withdrawal (no. 80317) in 1982, the fleet remained intact until 1991–92 when 14 were withdrawn. There was then a short hiatus, but a further 24 were withdrawn at a slow rate between 1996 and 2002, leaving 106 TPO vans (comprising 68 POS, 35 POT and 3 BPOT) in service until 2004
