VS Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism
A Single-nucleotide polymorphism is a point mutation that is found within a population. Surely one of these pages should mention the other? —Preceding unsigned comment added by FergusRossFerrier (talk • contribs) 16:22, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah. It does feel like the articles are about the same thing, if they aren't that should be clarified. 2A01:36D:118:A50:852D:675C:D90D:ADBF (talk) 17:06, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
Merger proposal
It has been suggested that Cellular reproduction and DNA replication: Point mutation be merged into this article or section.
- Support - This seems like a no-brainer to me. The other page doesn't follow Wikipedia article naming style and is quite directly a duplicate topic. ~rezecib (talk) 02:03, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Broken link in references
The 4th reference, specifically
http://members.cox.net/amgough/Fanconi-genetics-genetics-primer.htm ,
is a broken link.

This article is incorrect. Point mutation is an umbrella term for all mutations that occur in for a single nucleotide. It is NOT synonomous with substitution mutation. This article must be altered accordingly, and another article must be made for substitution mutation. --Man of Steel 85 (talk) 15:11, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
