Talk:Open range

A grumbling note

I am actually quite surprized this article was not written long time ago. The subject is widely known, a significant part of American history and culture, and the term is widely used in wikipedia. The on,ly explanation I see is that the word collocation "open"+"range" does not sound like a specific term which needs an explanation. In fact, I've fixed quite a few cases of misleading wikipipe [[rangeland|open range]].Last Lost (talk) 19:50, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I recall looking at that question a few years back, myself while working on ranch. Check the talk page at rangeland, there may have been some discussion of the point, maybe even a merge (did this article's history page suggest it was free-standing at some time in the past? Not a huge issue to me, I am not fond of dozens of content forks and stubs, but I also disfavor making artificial merges of tangentally related topics. Seems you are doing a fine job, so just keep it up! :-) Montanabw(talk) 21:09, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So, did you have home on the range a few years back then :-)? As for me, it was an accidental catch. All what I wrote was rather news for me, and I don't think I will continue.
Attn. whoever wants to take over, the cited article by Roy H. Andes contains much more further info on the subject. In fact, it is so densely packed, I had real hard time summarazing and rephrasing instead of just cut'n'pasting: almost every sentence there deserves a place in an encyclopedia.
