Talk:Omega Special Task Force

Confirmation of unit's existance.

Recently a training footage of the Omega unit was revealed. It's probably the only visual document that proves this unit's existance ! if anyone has more information, especialy sourced ones please share. I know this is classified and there is merely some handfull info but please .... this unit does not exist anymore ( at least officialy ), so if you have anything, share. This also goes to Georgian community. TheMightyGeneral (talk) 07:23, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

serious information issues

Gathering from commentary in video footage, this unit has a much longer history than just the time period when a new unit was created. There also us a lot of discrepancies regarding some dates and general information. There were actualy three units created at the same time. Alpha Group ( modeled after original Soviet unit ), Delta Group and Omega Group. Georgian MIA is technicaly nothing else but the continuation of Soviet Georgian KGB buro, most of the people who worked there staid after desolution of USSR and made all of the experienced personnel and specialists/operatives. These newly created untis were formed, shaped and organized by exactly those people. However Omega unit was an exception as it additionaly received training from British special services and participated in actual operations outside the country. All these new units might have been literaly purged and their recent history is short lived, but they are immediate successors of Georgian KGB and have a much longer history, which can be dated back to WW2 Georgian branch of NKVD, which for instance deployed a small special surveilance / commando group that fought the Nazi incursion into the Caucasus mountains.
