Accepted name

According to WoRMS, the genus name Ernstia has already been used for a mollusc, so this genus was renamed to Ernsta in 2021. Then it was renamed again to Neoernsta in 2023, in Neoernsta nom. nov. (Calcarea, Porifera), a new genus name to replace Ernsta Klautau, Azevedo & Cóndor-Luján, 2021. However, GBIF still considers Ernsta to be the accepted name. I've requested the 2023 article at Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request/Archive 178 § Neoernsta so I can see why the second renaming occurred. This would help for explaining the naming situation in this article's body, and also for deciding which name to use on Wikipedia (in this article's title, its species, moving Category:Ernstia, etc.). jlwoodwa (talk) 18:45, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It would appear that Ernsta Grishin, 2020 was already used to describe a genus of skippers (butterflies), hence the need for another replacement name. Based on this, I will now proceed to rename/move the article to the name accepted by the World Porifera Database as reflected on WoRMS. Loopy30 (talk) 00:22, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
