Kent Kammerer
Kent Kammerer
  • ... that Kent Kammerer (pictured) was called a "wise Yoda-like presence" among a group of so-called NIMBY activists in Seattle?
  • Source: "When I call the coalition members grumps, it’s meant as a compliment. These civic activists are old-school mossbacks—neighborhood folks who are often dismissed as gadflies, NIMBYs, cranks, or worse. I think they should wear those epithets as badges of honor: You can dismiss someone as a not-in-my-backyard type because they stand against so-called progress, but often they are also the people on your block who actually give a damn. Think of them as civic P-Patch tenders who do the hard, dirty work of keeping Seattle livable... 'Occasionally, a drunk wanders in, and you can’t tell them from some of the regulars,' says Kent Kammerer, a former schoolteacher who uses his classroom skills and wise Yoda-like presence to preside." Knute Berger, Seattle Weekly
  • ALT1: ... that to teach high school photography, Kent Kammerer took students on trips to the North Cascades and Olympic Peninsula in a home-built camper? Source: "Mr. Kammerer taught at Hamilton Junior High and then Lincoln High School in Seattle’s Wallingford area, which in the 1970s was primarily a working-class neighborhood. He taught photography and helped create a 'visual communications' class merging photos, printing and graphics, to 150 students who picked those electives. Mr. Kammerer wore a bushy beard with flannel shirts and checked pants. He took students to the North Cascades or the Olympic Peninsula in a homemade camper. 'He would draw a circle on a beach 3 feet around, and tell you to burn up a whole roll of film,' said Steve Noe, a former student." Mike Lindblom, Seattle Times

  • New enough, long enough, Earwig picks up only a quote. I prefer ALT0, which is reliably-sourced per WP:NEWSORG. ALT1 is also reliably sources for the same reason, but still, I like ALT0 more. I think the picture is pretty grainy to appear for the front page; that's promoter's decision. Roast (talk) 05:29, 27 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
