Fluxus concert / move to New York
The Early life and career section contains two sentences that, on the face of it, contradict one another: "In 1963, he travelled to the United States to continue his musical training with the assistance and influence of Aaron Copland." and "While he was there (at Goldsmiths College in London) he organised an early Fluxus concert, A Little Festival of New Music, on 6 July 1964."
The implication is that he was both in New York but also still studying at Goldsmiths in London when this concert took place, however his autobiography What's Welsh For Zen makes clear that he left Goldsmiths in the summer of 1963 and didn't go back. The autobiography does describe a concert that he organised on his last day at Goldsmiths in 1963, though the name of the event is not given and there is no direct mention of Fluxus; however, he mentions elsewhere that his main collaborator at the concert, Cornelius Cardew, was a British associate of Fluxus. So it seems likely that the date 6 July 1964 is incorrect (it should be 1963) and it was not billed as a Fluxus concert. Freewheeling frankie (talk) 16:16, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
