There was an incident in 1993 when a brand-new InCat vessel ran aground while InCat's owner and his friends took it for a late-night shake down cruise. The vessel was hung up on rocks, completely out of the water (even at high tide) for several weeks while the hull was patched up, a slip was built under it, and enough tugboats were found to move it. I believe there was widespread rumours that the grounding was the result of a "celebration" on board, and the owner losts his mariner's license as a result. Although I remember seeing the vessel aground while in Tasmania, I don't remember any more details like the date, name of the vessel, or the owner's name (Bob Clifford? Something like that?). As I am sure this incident contributed greatly to the company's financial difficulties in the 1990s, someone with detailed knowledge and references to what happened may want to add this to the company's history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grant Gussie (talk • contribs) 18:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I remember that! It was grounded on "Blackjack Rock" (or something close to that). Incat Hull 096

Any thoughts on creating an article for the ship currently known as Incat Hull 096, even though it doesn't have an official name yet? It's notable in many ways (largest Incat ship, first fully battery electric Incat ship, largest battery on a ship, largest electric ferry in the world when completed) and many useful sources already exist. A few below for future reference in case anyone wants to beat me to it:

There is a level of hostility (or perhaps just disdain) towards new fast ferry articles amongst some moderators. A couple of years ago I added an article for an earlier Incat ship, possibly Hull 093, but I was told that it was of insufficient importance to justify an article and it would be deleted. There's no appeal against their decisions and I wasn't even allowed to add a picture to the entry on the main Incat page.
But I wish all the best to anyone who creates an article on Hull 096. This is an industry changing vessel and if any fast ferry deserves its own article, this is the one. I just hope you encounter a less aggressive moderator than I did. Bogong (talk) 08:46, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Impartiality - None exists.

It's very clear to anybody that visits this page to see that it isn't impartial and is written by employees of Incat to promote their business, with very few citations outside of their own website. This entire wikipedia page is like reading an advertisement for a business. How is this allowed? This page needs to be deleted and rewritten by people not connected with Incat or its contractors. 203.63.63.39 (talk) 17:09, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well I've been an occasional contributor to this page for years and I've never been near Incat or had any association with their employees. I'm just someone who has an interest in high speed ships. The whole point of Wikipedia is that people with an interest in subjects contribute their knowledge. So if the 203.63.63.39 doesn't like this page, may I suggest that s/he edits a few parts to be more to his/her liking.
