Talk:Gropos

Capitalization

I just finished changing "GROPOS" to "gropos" in a bunch of articles and links after confirming the canonical spelling as presented by the Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5. I am interpreting canonicity based on the following:

  • B5 episode screen titles are all-caps, which is not how the episodes are generally represented in any other media source. Wikipedia capitalization standards ignore the irregular capitalization forms presented by title screens unless there is a compelling reason not to.
  • The Lurker's Guide, which cites "Gropos" as the title, is the most respected source for B5 information, outside of the shows themselves and J. Michael Straczynski's published comments. (Note that neither the commentary nor JMS's notes in the LG "Gropos" page are consistent on this point, each using both "GROPOS" and "Gropos" as the title and term, rendering them inconclusive.)
  • IMDb uses "GROPOS", but is not as canonical as the Lurker's Guide for this show, doesn't follow its own capitalization practices in this case, and has been known to make similar errors on occasion.
  • I have seen no other sources so far that indicate a "correct" capitalization for the term.
  • It is not an initialism, but rather an acronym (narrow sense) (i.e., ground pounders), which typically is not capitalized when it becomes a common term (e.g., laser, radar, scuba).

Akdor

This planet is mentioned only in this episode (it might be briefly mentioned 3 seasons later in "Day of the Dead"). It should be merged into here because both this page and that page say the same exact thing and it would be far better for the overall quality of the topic that information could be found in only one place.Radagast83 19:27, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree with Radagast83 on this. I doubt there is a shred of independently sourceable information on this planet, so it really doesn't deserve a separate article. I've just added an out-of-universe description for Category:Babylon 5 planets that suggests why Wikipedia shouldn't expect to have a complete catalog of B5 planets; i.e., it's a category of "prominently featured planets". ~ Jeff Q (talk) 01:53, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong word

It's "ostensibly", not "obstinately". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.49.104.165 (talk) 16:52, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Minor spelling annoyance

Both JMS and I tend to misspell Schwarzkopf with a 'T', however it is spelled properly in the episode itself. --Aladdin Sane (talk) 21:46, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
