STLA Small ≠ e-CMP

Some clarification for changes made to article. Basically, “STLA Small” is the successor to e-CMP, it is not the same as e-CMP2. The four “STLA” platforms are major overhauls or clean-sheet designs and will be either EV-only or EV-primary. e-CMP by contrast is an ICE-primary architecture, and e-CMP2 is a minor revision of e-CMP, mainly to incorporate a new motor and allow cheaper manufacture of the three launch cars at the former FIAT plant at Tychy, Poland. Even “e-CMP2” is a bit of an overstatement, given how small the changes are relative to v1 - 600 parts changed out of a set of 10,000+ is not really a big deal, even if the battery and motor did change; the rest of the architecture remains as before.

Investor presentation slide, here, shows the relation between the two:

No official Stellantis communications have stated the e-CMP2 cars are built on STLA Small, and considering how much car makers love talking about using new technologies, this should be enough evidence that the three Tychy cars are not built using STLA Small. All references to “STLA Small” in linked articles has no official source.

STLA Small, once it actually exists, should get its own article. KrisW1001 (talk) 15:22, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
