Flag Of Chile
The article has a little excerpt at the end of "Flag of Chile" that states that the current flag is inspired in the U.S flag. "However, like the Texan flag, the flag of Chile is modeled after the flag of the United States." The citation comes from a site called "World Atlas", which makes this claim with no citation or anything that can be corroborated by sources. This is inaccurate at best. This link (https://web.archive.org/web/20090922201116/http://www.chileatento.com/chile/chile_texto.asp?codigo=38), cited in the spanish article explains what is the inspiration and symbology of the current flag, taking into account the slight changes that has had in subsequent times. The Chilean flag is an iteration of the old flags and indigenous Mapuche symbols. I think that source (world atlas) and the other generally cited (CIA world factbook, discontinued as 2026) are extremely poor sources that lack depth and accuracy and should not be used because they perpetuate false and misleading information, and an Encyclopedia is not a collection of factoids, nor should aspire to be one (this is just my opinion, though) ~2026-93652-1 (talk) 14:30, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
Rename this article to Chile (country)
Chile has more definitions other than a country. Should we rename this page to Chile (country) and have this page a disambiguation page? Mister Questioner (talk) 21:25, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Chile is the most important / relevant 'chile' out there, all the other Chiles are the Chile (other thing) pages TLA is a three letter acronym (talk) 21:27, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
