Talk:British Rail Class 175

Photographs

Does anyone have a good photograph of a 175 in their new Arriva livery? David Arthur 16:00, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Which Arriva livery? There's pictures of the green/white one on google but the latest livery (Barbie first with an Ariva sticker on the side) is a bit too recent. There could be some pics on North Wales Coast Railway website but not sure which pages.Naked draughtsman 16:52, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think this [1] may be the sort of thing what we're after. I hope to catch one of them and take a nice uncopyrighted picture soon, but all I seem to see on my commute are 158s and the (majority) old livery 175s. Ansbaradigeidfran (talk) 21:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got one: The quality's not fantastic, but it was from a mobile phone, through a window ;) Ansbaradigeidfran (talk) 17:44, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Based on mark 3/4 coach

Are these based on the mark 3 or 4 coach? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.248.222.190 (talk) 09:02, August 24, 2007 (UTC)

They’re from Alstom’s Coradia family — I’ve never heard anything to suggest direct descent from either BR design, though they certainly bear much more resemblance to the Mark IV than the Mark III. David Arthur 14:42, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All modern trains (other than the Turbostar and Electrostar trains which are based on the Networker) are brand new designs and are not derived from BR designs. Unisouth (talk) 09:41, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Just to let you know, the Commons category for Class 175s is now completely sorted by operator and livery. -mattbuck (Talk) 17:41, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Class 175 *did* re-enter service on 15 December 2025, with Great Western Railway

Class 175 *did* re-enter service on 15 December 2025, with Great Western Railway on Plymouth-Penzance and Penzance-Plymouth services. Where are all the reliable sources, all the articles stating this? I can't find any for some reason... Anamyd (talk) 00:30, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm told the 175 failed and one of the, withdrawn that day, Castle HST sets had to substitute. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:10, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The 175001 ran in passenger service Monday 15 December as the 1340 Plymouth-Penzance-Plymouth. It is running again today. Last Saturday a Castle substituted a failed 150 on the Newquay branch and became the last HST in service on GWR at 2122 ex Newquay.

WP:OR... do you have an actual reliable source for this? Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 08:00, 21 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Todays Railway list the trains movements but it is monthly and not always accurate. Yesterdays movement 175111 was recorded on youtube as most are but not accepted as a source. There is a train database but it like wikipedia is updated by the public. REVUpminster (talk) 09:08, 21 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Two more moved from Ely to Wolverton on youtube 27 March 2026. Updated above REVUpminster (talk) 22:00, 29 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I know the policy and haven't linked them, haven't changed the article since I quoted Today's Railways last December. The talk page is not the article; nevertheless it doesn't make the comment here untrue.REVUpminster (talk) 08:19, 30 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Talk pages are for suggesting and discussing improvements to the article. If you suggest something here, it is implicitly stated that you wish it to be included in the article, for which WP:V and WP:NOR both apply. If all you are doing is chatting about where the trains have been moved to, then WP:NOTFORUM applies. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:12, 30 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Other people may be able to find an acceptable cite for the suggestions. Of course I would like wiki to be up to date. The magazines are always months behind the times.REVUpminster (talk) 17:20, 31 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Months? Citation needed for that. The latest issue of The Railway Magazine, cover date April 2026, describes rolling stock movements that occurred in February and March. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:23, 1 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

That's great. You can add the changes with a cite.REVUpminster (talk) 09:35, 2 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
