Talk:Bi-wiring

For Bi-Wiring need special amplifier with 2-power outs per chanell!!! Amplifier with 8 connectors on 2 chanell!!

Neutrality

I think the article is fine, but it does need an explanation from those who propose bi-wiring is a good idea. Presently, there is only the viewpoint that bi-wiring is a marketing scheme with no technical benefit. Greenshinobi (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:11, 2 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Here is an article which shows theoretical electrical differences between single and bi-wiring setups. To summarize, the difference depends on the properties of the connecting cable; the more resistance in the cabling, the greater the effect of bi-wiring. The effect is a very small gain at the crossover frequency as compared to singel-wiring. The article does not make a claim as to whether this effect is audible or not. I'm not sure if this qualifies to be included as a 1st source in the main article, but it certainly presents the facts in a thoughtful manner: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~jcgl/Scots_Guide/audio/biwire/Page1.html

About "Neutrality". On the good side, there is a value to reporting how people feel about a subject even if their beliefs are not proven. It's important on subject matters in social science and psychology. However, on a subject that is provable by science, it's reasonable for a reader to expect that an encyclopedia article sticks to the science for that subject. When two opposing perspectives of a subject are presented, where one group says 2+2=4 and the other group says 2+2=5, is that really "neutrality" ? Among mainstream scientists and engineers, the benefits of bi-wiring is an extraordinary claim, which should require extraordinary evidence. If such evidence is lacking in the article, that amounts to Wikipedia disseminating pseudoscience. Ohgddfp (talk) 03:12, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
