Talk:African-American upper class

Untitled

I made an edit to the "American Black Upper Class" page referencing Howard, Morehouse and Spelman "which were all opened in the 1880s." That statement is inaccurate. Both Howard University and Morehouse College were founded in 1867. Spelman was founded in 1881. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.208.8.225 (talkcontribs) 08:43, 6 March 2009

It seems that all the featured images up top are of people who could be described as rags-to-riches, having gained wealth exclusively in the late 20th and 21st centuries. I feel there are better examples, people whose families are historically associated with the African-American upper class going back generations. The Syphaxes come to mind, as do the Logans, the Youngs (e.g. Andrew Young Jr.), the Powells, and various Black Creole families. natemup (talk) 23:02, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
