Leptonema is also an animal genus in subfamily Macronematinae and a bacterial genus in family Leptospiraceae.

Leptonema is a genus of flowering plant belonging to the family Phyllanthaceae first described in 1824.[1][2] The entire genus is endemic to Madagascar.[3][4] It is dioecious, with male and female flowers on separate plants.[5]
