Jaecoo
Jaecoo is a brand of Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery that was established in 2023. As a sub-division of Chery International,[2] the brand was established to market SUVs to export markets. Its name is based on the German word Jäger (meaning 'hunter') and the English word 'cool'.[3] In Iran, the brand is known as Lucano.[4] HistoryJaecoo was first introduced in April 2023 in Wuhu, Anhui, China, alongside the Omoda brand. The two brands (referred to as "O&J" brands) are only marketed outside China to support its export strategy. Both brands were targeted to reach annual global sales of 1,400,000 units by 2030 (excluding China).[5] In the same month, Chery established a separate company in China called Anhui Omoda Jaecoo Automobile Co., Ltd. as a sales company.[6] Jaecoo started sales in Russia, its first market, in September 2023.[7] In 2024, Jaecoo vehicles went on sale in several markets such as Western Europe, Malaysia, Middle East, South Africa and Chile.[8] MarketsRussiaJaecoo vehicles went on sale in its first market, Russia in September 2023 starting with the Jaecoo J7. Jaecoo became the fifth Chery brand in the country after Chery, Exeed, Omoda and Jetour.[7] ItalyChery officially debuted in Italy in July 2024 with Jaecoo brand alongside Omoda, with the Jaecoo 7 model. At the time of the launch, there are 49 active dealerships.[9] Southeast AsiaMalaysiaJaecoo debuted in Malaysia in December 2023, by showcasing the Jaecoo J7.[10] In June 2024, the first J7 rolled off the production line at Chery's Malaysian plant in Shah Alam, which is dedicated for Jaecoo models.[11] The J7 went on sale in July 2024.[12] ThailandJaecoo was introduced as a brand in Thailand in March 2024, alongside the Omoda brand.[13] Its first model, the J6 EV was open for booking in August 2024.[14] ProductsCurrent modelsThe first model of Jaecoo is the J7, a rebadged Chery Tansuo 06, and was followed by the J8 (a rebadged Chery Tiggo 9) in October 2023 at the Geneva Motor Show in Qatar.[15] The third model of Jaecoo is the J6, a rebadged iCar 03.
