Zelligerar is a Moroccan manufacturer and business-to-business (B2B) supplier of handmade zellige tiles.[1] The family-owned business was founded in 1974 and is based in Tetouan, Morocco.[2]
History
Zelligerar was established as a family business in 1974 in Tetouan, a city in northern Morocco associated with traditional tile production.[2] The company produces zellij, a form of individually hand-chiseled terracotta tilework that has been used in Islamic architecture in Morocco and Andalusia since at least the 10th century.[3]
Operations
The company states that it produces zellige tiles using traditional manufacturing steps that include forming tiles from local clay, drying them, firing them in kilns and cutting the glazed surface into geometric pieces before assembly.[3][1] It supplies tiles primarily to architects, interior designers, builders and tile distributors.[1]
