But this section has not one single reference.The section "Selected exhibitions" makes no distinction between group and solo exhibitions, which is unusually unhelpful. And it's in reverse chronological order (which doesn't belong in Wikipedia articles). And not one of the exhibitions is referenced.The article does have four references. Yemisi Ajoke Ebunola Anna Wilson born 8 March 1968 in London , England , is a Swedish sculptor and illustrator, living and working in Stockholm.[1][2]
Biography
Yemisi Wilson was born in London, England, in 1968, to a Nigerian father and a Swedish mother, and grew up on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.[3]
She was artistically trained in Florence and Pietrasanta , Italy , where she worked for about twenty years. She initially studied fine arts at the Il Bisonte Scuola grafica (1990-1991) and Scuola Libera del Nudo (1992-1993) schools in Tuscany , followed by higher studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze (1994-2000), including the Facultad de los artes libres , University of Granada , in Granada , Spain (1997-1998).[4]
Since the 2000s, she has lived and worked full-time in Stockholm , but with many of her sculpture works located in Pietrasanta.
Art
Yemisi Wilson makes representational sculpture in marble and bronze .
In her early art, she focused on encounters between humans and animals. Over time, she increasingly moved to depicting only animals, often in the form of larger, exotic mammals such as elephants , rhinoceroses and monkeys . Her work involves hand-picking stones and objects made of other materials and then a long, careful process of transforming them based on their conditions into the image or creature she already sees in the block from the beginning:
Her clients and clients include public bodies such as the Swedish Arts Council and private ones such as the real estate company Klövern. She has also had several assignments abroad, both public, such as the main square in the town of Fabiano in Tuscany, and private ones.
Yemisi Wilson is a member of the Sculptor's Association, the Swedish Copyright Authority, the Swedish Artists' Association and Swedish Artists.
