Winston Utomo (born 23 November 1990) is a media and entertainment technology entrepreneur from Indonesia. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IDN (formerly IDN Media), the leading media and entertainment technology company for the young generation.[1] [2]

Early life and education

Winston was born and raised in Surabaya, Indonesia, as the eldest of two siblings. His younger brother, William Utomo, is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of IDN.[3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Winston received his bachelor's degree from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He later earned a master's degree from Columbia University in New York, graduating magna cum laude in 2014. [8][9] [10] [11]

Career

After completing his studies, Winston began his professional career at Google in Singapore. During this period, he developed the idea of building a digital media platform focused on the young generation in Indonesia. On 8 June 2014, he co-founded IDN with his brother William Utomo. Under his leadership as CEO, the company expanded into several business segments, including digital media, livestreaming, digital entertainment, experiential entertainment, and the creators economy.[12] [13] [14] [15] [16]

As of 2026, IDN operates several platforms and business units such as IDN Times, Popbela.com, Popmama.com, Yummy, GGWP, Duniaku.com, and FORTUNE (digital media); IDN App and Saweria (digital entertainment); IDN Pictures, IDN Kids, JKT48, PAPION, and Boss Creator (experiential entertainment), and ICE (creators economy); as well as IDN Foundation and IDN Research Institute.[17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23] [24] [25]

IDN currently has more than 70 million monthly active users across Indonesia and is now one of the biggest media and entertainment companies in Southeast Asia. Outside of his role at IDN, Winston is the leader of Global Shapers Jakarta, a community under the World Economic Forum that focuses on youth leadership and social impact initiatives.[34] [35]

In 2017, Winston was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list in the Media, Marketing, and Advertising category. Personal Life

Winston has two children, Aramont Winston Utomo and Graewalt Winston Utomo. Winston currently resides in Jakarta, Indonesia.[57] [58]
