Vladislav Gradinari (born 2008) is a snooker player from Moldova. In 2023 he became the youngest person to ever win a televised snooker match.

Early life

Gradinari started playing pool when he was six years-old before moving on to snooker. He later moved to Leeds, England. His mother Natalia is a qualified snooker referee. He competed in the World Under-16 Snooker Championship at eight years-old, and reached the quarter-finals of the Moldova Amateur Championship at ten years-old. He won the English under-16 Championship in 2022, only dropping one frame in the tournament.[1][2]

Career

2023-24

In January 2023, Gradinari became the youngest person to ever win a televised snooker match when he defeated Ng On Yee at the 2023 Snooker Shoot Out.[3][4] He then reached the last-32 with a win over Victor Sarkis lost in the third round to Englishman Tom Ford.[5]

In March 2024, he became the 2024 European Under 16 Champion with a 4-1 win over Riley Powell.[6] In the first round of qualifying for the 2024 World Snooker Championship he lost to Allan Taylor 10-6.[7] That month, he reached the final of the European U18 Championship, where he was defeated by Bulcsú Révész of Hungary.[8][9][10]

In April 2024, he won the English under-16 title in Walsall.[11] He entered Q School in May 2024 and lost in the first event to veteran Barry Pinches.[12] In the second event he secured a win over Englishman Patrick Whealen before facing Chris Totten.[13]

2024-25

In December 2024, Gradinari reached the last-32 of the 2024 Snooker Shoot Out with a win over Long Zehuang before losing to Poland's Antoni Kowalski.[14][15][16] He won the English Under-18 Snooker Championship with a 5-4 victory over Shaun Liu of Hong Kong in a deciding frame in Northampton.[17] He entered into Q School again in May 2025.[18]

2025-26

In January 2026, he advanced to the knockout stages of the WSF Championship in Sofia. He was a finalist at the EBSA European U18 Championships in March 2026, defeated by professional Michał Szubarczyk in the final.[19] That month, he was defeated by eventual winner Anton Kazakov at the EBSA U21 Championships.[20] Gradinari was drawn against Reanne Evans in the first round of qualifying for the 2026 World Snooker Championship, taking a 5-3 lead after the first session, and winning 10-7.[21][22] He progressed to the second round where he played experienced professional Jamie Jones, losing 10-3.[23] In May 2026, Gradinari became the first player since Gary Wilson in 2003 to successfully defend the English U18 Championship.[24] That month, he entered Q School, losing in event one to former professional Rory McLeod.[25]
