Vincent Van Haaff was a renowned acoustic architect and studio designer.
Through his Los Angeles-based firm Waterland Design LLC, he was responsible for designing, renovating, or consulting on some of the best known recording studios in the world. From 1978 to 2016 he designed and built over 300 recording studios and media production facilities worldwide. Although his primary focus was commercial recording studios, he also designed and built a variety of other acoustical spaces, including residential studios, home theaters, offices for record labels and other media companies, radio stations, rehearsal studios, school facilities, jazz clubs, conference rooms, THX screening rooms, soundstages, foley stages. Born Vincent Amaury Van Haaff in Holland, moved to the US in 1975 to pursue his career. He died in Los Angeles on May 23, 2016.[1]

WATERLAND DESIGN
In 1977 Waterland Design was established in Los Angeles, California to specialize in design and construction consultation services for the audio and video industry.
THE WATERLAND FRONTWALL
In the mid-90's he designed and brought to market a unique acoustical device known as the Waterland FrontWall. Manufactured by Total Fabrications, it was a trussing structure to support main studio monitors above a large glass window to allow maximum view between control rooms and live rooms in a recording studio.
