Nguyễn Hồng Nhung, better known by her stage name Vicky Nhung (born November 19, 1987 in Hải Phòng), is a Vietnamese singer and songwriter. She won first place in the 2018 edition of Nhạc Hội Song Ca.[1]

Career

Born and raised in Hải Phòng, a vibrant port city with a rich cultural and musical scene, she initially worked in multimedia design while nurturing a strong passion for singing. Despite not coming from an artistic family, she gradually carved out her own path in the Vietnamese music industry with her modern musical taste and warm, powerful voice. She first gained widespread attention through cover songs and mashups on YouTube. Performances like “Thu cuối” and “Cơn mưa ngang qua”, along with various Vietnamese and Chinese mashups, quickly reached millions of views, making her an internet sensation. Her simple yet creative arrangements and emotional vocal style helped give familiar songs a fresh feel, establishing her as a distinct musical personality..[2] Vicky Nhung primarily pursues genres that suit her voice and style, including Pop, Ballad, and Indie. She is especially known for her “Chill with Vicky Nhung” series (Seasons 1, 2, 3), which features mellow, acoustic-inspired arrangements focused on emotion and storytelling. This series has become her signature brand and helped her build a loyal fanbase.[3][4][5] Her music style blends various elements, highlighted by her distinctive husky voice, refined vocal techniques, and abilities in songwriting and arrangement. She continuously experiments and evolves, appealing to a wide range of audiences—from pop ballad lovers to fans of more dynamic genres like R&B. Some of her notable songs include “Thà Cô Đơn”, “Thật Không Giống Ai”, “Thèm Yêu”, “Nói Đi Là Đi”, and “Việt Nam Những Chuyến Đi”.

Personal Life

She was mentored by singer Đàm Vĩnh Hưng and is a close friend with her fellow singer Hải Phòng singer Phượng Vũ.[6][7] Known for her tomboy style and straightforward personality, she tends to keep her private life relatively discreet.
