The Very Large Data Bases Endowment is an American nonprofit organization that researches very large databases. The organization was incorporated in 1982 as an expansion of an annual conference series on very large databases, which began in 1975. It is affiliated with the Association for Computing Machinery's SIGMOD group. In addition to its conference series the VLDB Endowment publishes The VLDB Journal in cooperation with the ACM and Springer.
