History

Founding and early years

Total Office Solutions was founded in 1987 by Michael and Linda Monette in Irving, Texas, initially operating as Systems Edge. Michael Monette, a Vietnam War veteran who served in the United States Air Force specializing in weapons systems avionics from 1971 to 1977, brought military discipline and organizational principles to the business.[2][5] The company began as a commercial moving and office furniture services provider, focusing on the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.[6]

Prior to founding the company, Michael Monette held positions at Bell Atlantic Business System Services as Account Manager for service agreement sales, and at Harris Corporation from 1977 to 1986 in various managerial roles working on the design and manufacturing of minicomputers and peripherals.[2][7]

Growth and expansion

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Total Office Solutions expanded its service offerings and geographic reach. The company developed multiple business units to address various aspects of commercial workplace needs, establishing itself as a vertically integrated provider.[1][2]

In 2007, Total Office Solutions became a founding member of the Office Moving Alliance (OMA), expanding its national and international service capabilities through the alliance network.[8][9]

In September 2021, the company signed a long-term lease for its headquarters in Irving, Texas, across the street from the site of the former Texas Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys from 1971 to 2008.[10][11]

Also in September 2021, Move Solutions signed a long-term lease for 107,537 square feet of industrial space at Park 183 in Southeast Austin.[12] The company also maintains operations in San Antonio, where it has operated for over 25 years.[2]

By 2025, Total Office Solutions supports approximately 300 families across its business units, with operations in multiple Texas cities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.[3][2]

Industry affiliations

Total Office Solutions is a founding member of the Office Moving Alliance (OMA), a global platform uniting leading commercial relocation companies. The alliance comprises 92 partner companies worldwide operating in over 228 markets.[8][9]

Move Solutions Ltd. was ranked No. 2 in the Top 10 Partner Company Sales Results among all OMA partners worldwide in 2025.[13][14]

Megan Monette McDaniel, Vice President of Global Accounts, received OMA's Top Individual Sales Award at the 2025 Annual Meeting, marking her third consecutive year winning OMA's top sales honor—the first individual in the alliance's history to achieve this accomplishment.[13][15][16][17][18]

In 2025, Megan Monette McDaniel was promoted to Board President of Ladies in Commercial Real Estate (LICRE).[19]

Leadership

Total Office Solutions is led by its founding family across multiple generations. Michael Monette serves as Chief Executive Officer, and Linda Monette is the Majority Principal.[2][3]

The second generation of family leadership includes Amy Linton as General Manager of the DFW Region and Megan Monette McDaniel as Vice President of Global Accounts.[13][14]

In 2025, Amy Linton was appointed to a three-year term on the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.[20]

Infrastructure

The company's headquarters in Irving, Texas, encompasses approximately 400,000 square feet of warehouse and office space.[10][11] The facility includes what has been described as the largest office furniture showroom in the United States and Canada.[2]

The Austin facility at Park 183 comprises 107,537 square feet of Class A industrial space.[12] Total Office Solutions operates a fleet of more than 40 trucks and employs approximately 400 people across all business units.[6]

The company's fleet consists of custom-designed Penske 22-foot Commercial Box Trucks with fire engine-style front ends and double cabs that seat a driver and six employees. The trucks feature air ride suspension, E-track cargo systems, and 4,000-pound rail gates.[6]

Stack-N-Pack reusable crate system

Move Solutions pioneered the use of reusable plastic moving crates in the commercial moving industry with its signature red "Stack-N-Pack" crate system. The company maintains an inventory of more than 150,000 proprietary RFID-tracked reusable security crates.[1][6]

The company developed the Stack-N-Pack system with a "no-lift" design, in which employees stack empty crates on dollies and pack items directly into them, eliminating the need to lift loaded crates. This initiative has reduced cardboard sent to landfills by approximately 20,000 pounds per month.[1]

Community involvement

Total Office Solutions and its family of companies have a history of community philanthropy, providing in-kind donations, furniture, moving services, and financial support to numerous North Texas charitable organizations.[3]

Move Solutions has partnered with the Arlington-Dallas Toys for Tots campaign to provide transportation, logistics, and material support. In October 2025, the company announced a pledge to help collect one million toys for the holiday season, dedicating 25,000 square feet of warehouse space.[21][22]

Corporate culture

Total Office Solutions operates as a debt-free company and has maintained a no-layoff policy throughout its history.[2] The company's stated philosophy emphasizes completion, trust, transparency, and integrity as core values.[3][4]

Michael Monette has spoken publicly about how his military experience influences his business leadership, emphasizing process-driven procedures and discipline.[5][2]
