Born in Belgium, she trained in acting and music at the Conservatoire Royale in Brussels and performed internationally as a singer and stage performer.
She became an actress, appearing in films such as The Flaw (1955), Double Cross (1956), and Keep It Clean (1956).
She is perhaps best known as the wife (and later widow) of British land and water speed-record holder Donald Campbell, whom she married in 1958.
After Campbell’s death in a 1967 water-speed record attempt, she later wrote about their life together, including the memoir My Speed King: Life with Donald Campbell.
She later married British actor Bill Maynard but they divorced.
She died on 14 June 2021 in Palm Springs, California.
