Theodore Kennedy Nivison Jr. (born January 16, 1998) simply known as Ted Nivison, is an American filmmaker, director, YouTuber, podcast host, photographer and comedian. Nivison began making online content in 2009 but wouldn't see any jump in popularity until around 2019, just before joining a collective group known as The Lunch Club. Nivison, much like the rest of the group, would then leave The Lunch Club after controversy came out about one of the members, CallMeCarson.[1] Nivision is known to work with musicians to film music videos for them, notable examples being Lovejoy and James Marriott. He also partnered with Universal for promotion of their 2021 film Nobody, as he was tasked with filming an action scene with his popular character, The Milk Man.
Biography
Theodore Kennedy Nivison Jr. was born on January 16, 1998, and grew up near Boston, Massachusetts. His interest in YouTube and video production was sparked in 7th grade by YouTuber Freddie Wong. Nivision was in multiple theater productions in high school, which helped fuel his interest for production, and he was also in his high school's choir program. Prior to going to college and doing YouTube full time, Nivision worked at Staples. In 2018, Nivision interned at a camera rental company in Los Angeles, California, named CSLA, and worked at the camera rental centre at his college. Ted describes himself as an "overwhelmingly extroverted extrovert". Nivision attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, and graduated on May 17, 2020, with a degree in Cinema & Photography with a concentration in Cinema Production.
Collaborations
Podcasts
Nivision was a core member of the Lunch Club, a YouTube group of 7 members: Nivision, Jschlatt, CallMeCarson, Slimecicle, Traves, CScoop, and Hugbox. The group also had a podcast, The Lunch Club Podcast, where Nivision had many funny stories such as his trip to China and his fictional "Craigory" story. He was a member of this podcast from its 2nd episode to it's final episode starring Eddy Burback. On January 20, 2021, Nivision created his own podcast with former lunch club members Jschlatt and Slimecicle, called "Chuckle Sandwich"; the first episode was released on January 30, 2021.[2] Subsequently, new episodes were released every week since, with two exceptions. The name of the podcast was named after Nivision's old sketch comedy group. He first mentioned the name in the Lunch Club Podcast, stating that he would definitely use it in the future. It typically features a guest, with some notable ones including: Tommyinnit, Ludwig, Corpse Husband, Markiplier and MoistCr1TiKaL. Slimecicle left the podcast, announcing his departure in the podcast's 54th episode, released on June 1, 2022, due to not having enough time or mental space to give an adequate amount of his attention. He goes on to say that there was no bad blood between him, Nivision or Schlatt. Jschlatt would also later leave, causing Nivision to retire Chuckle Sandwich and get a new co-host, Tucker Keane, where they made a new podcast together called "Take It Easy".[3]
Music videos
Nivison has collaborated with multiple artists to provide a music video for their songs. His first would be for the song "Gold" by YouTuber and musician James Marriott in 2021, where he would cameo as a pedestrian on the path. Later, in 2023, he would work with YouTuber Wilbur Soot's band Lovejoy to create the music video for "Portrait of a Blank Slate" and in the same year would also make the music video for their single "Normal People Things".[4]
Obscure collaborations
In 2021, to promote the upcoming film Nobody, Universal reached out to Nivision for him to create an action scene featuring a reoccurring character on his channel known as "The Milk Man".[5] Nivision would be given 30 days to prepare and train, and even got a personalised message from lead of the film, Bob Odenkirk.
Rainforest Café
On July 6, 2022, Nivision posted a video travelling to every Rainforest Café in North America.[6] On platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, Nivison would create various videos of him dancing to the song Tribute by Tenacious D. Rainforest would catch wind of this and collaborate with Nivision, posting a video on November 11, 2024 to their platforms, of Nivision and the company's mascot, Cha Cha, dancing to the song.[7]
