Tania Stock is an Australian politician, and has represented the district of Narungga in the South Australian House of Assembly since the 2026 state election. Stock is a member of the Liberal Party, and was previously a member of Yorke Peninsula Council.
Career
Stock was first elected to the Yorke Peninsula Council at the 2014 local elections, representing the Kalkabury ward.[1] She was re-elected in 2018, and in 2022 stood unopposed.[a][2][3]
In 2022, Stock stood for the Liberal Party twice — first at the state election, as the sixth-ranked candidate on the party's Legislative Council ticket, and second at the federal election, as the fourth-ranked candidate for the party's Senate ticket in South Australia.[4][5][6]
Stock was selected as a candidate for the 2026 state election in September 2025, representing the Liberal Party in the district of Narungga.[7] At the time, Narungga was held by Fraser Ellis, a former Liberal who had resigned from the party in 2021 over charges relating to an ICAC investigation, won re-election in 2022 as an independent candidate, and was found guilty of his charges in 2024.[8][9] After election day, it was clear that Ellis had been defeated, but uncertain whether Stock or One Nation candidate Chantelle Thomas, a photographer and make-up artist, would succeed him.[8] Stock ultimately prevailed, becoming a member of the South Australian House of Assembly representing Narungga.
Notes
- ^ Kalkabury ward is a multi-member ward, electing four councillors. At the 2022 local elections, exactly four candidates nominated, including Stock, meaning all four were elected unopposed.[2]
