Spacetime Chronicles is a 2025 Italian animated film directed by Stefano Bertelli. The film was selected for the Contrechamp competition at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the 2026 Fantasia International Film Festival.[1][2][3][4]
The film received coverage from international publications including Cineuropa, Cartoon Brew, Animation World Network and Film Threat.[5][6][7][8][9][10]
Plot
The film follows Fred, a man suspended between dreams, memories and limbo, guided by a cat representing his conscience.
Production
The film was independently produced in Italy using handmade paper animation techniques combining stop motion and super slow-motion sequences.[6]
Riccardo Orlandi designed and built the paper sets and mechanical structures used during production.[8]
According to Cineuropa, the film is Bertelli's second animated feature film after Acid Space (2014).[5]

Spacetime Chronicles screened at several international film festivals, including:

In May 2026, the French sales company Urban Sales acquired the international sales rights to the film during the Cannes Film Market.[17]
