Sound Stock is an American audio technology company that operates an AI-curated, royalty-free audio library. Launched in 2025, the platform provides sound effects, samples, loops, and full-length music tracks through a subscription model that emphasizes unlimited downloads and unrestricted preview access. The company states that its catalog contains more than 10 million original audio assets, making it one of the largest royalty-free sound libraries available at launch.[1]
Sound Stock has received coverage from Digital Music News, which described the platform as an attempt to disrupt traditional stock audio marketplaces through a combination of in-house production and AI-driven catalog management.[2]
History
Sound Stock was founded by Josh Linsk, who serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. The platform publicly launched in December 2025.[3]
In interviews with Digital Music News, Linsk described Sound Stock as a response to restrictive download limits, credit-based pricing systems, and shared contributor pools commonly used in the royalty-free audio industry. According to the company, its catalog is produced entirely in-house rather than sourced from third-party contributors.[4]
Platform and features
At launch, Sound Stock’s catalog was organized into four primary categories:
- Sound effects
- Samples
- Music loops
- Full music tracks
Assets are available in MP3 and WAV formats. The platform allows users to browse and preview the entire catalog without creating an account, a feature that differs from many subscription-based sound libraries.[5]
Variations
Sound Stock includes a feature referred to as “Variations,” which allows users to preview alternate versions of a single sound asset. The feature is intended to support workflows that require multiple tonal or stylistic options, such as game development and video production.[6]
Business model
Sound Stock operates on a subscription-based pricing model. As of launch, pricing was set at $4.99 per month or $3.99 per month when billed annually. Subscriptions include unlimited downloads without a credit system or tiered usage limits.[7]
