Smartsupp s.r.o. is a Czech software company founded in 2014[1] that developed the same-named platform for online communication between businesses and customers. The Smartsupp platform combines live chat, chatbots, artificial intelligence tools, and other e-commerce solutions.[2]
The platform is currently used by over 100,000 companies globally[3], with its customer base concentrated primarily in Central and Eastern Europe. The company holds up to 70% market share in the live chat market in the Czech Republic and maintains a notable presence in other countries including Poland, Germany, and Italy.[4][5]
History and Development
Founding (2014)
Smartsupp was founded in 2014 in Brno by three graduates of Brno University of Technology: Petr Janošík, Dušan Kmeť, and Vladimír Šandera. The founders' main vision was to provide businesses with a tool for real-time written communication with customers, serving as an alternative to the then-dominant email support. The company is officially registered as Smartsupp.com, s.r.o. with headquarters at Šumavská 31 B, 602 00 Brno (Company ID: 03668681).[6]
Early Growth (2015-2016)
The company operated as a bootstrapped startup funded entirely from its own resources without external financing. In August 2016, Smartsupp secured its first major investment of 10 million CZK from Reflex Capital, Webnode, and Spread Capital (Ondřej Fryc's investment fund), representing a 15% stake in the company. At the same time, Smartsupp s.r.o. was valued at 67 million CZK.[7][8]
Smartlook Spin-off (2020)
Starting in 2016, a new analytics tool that records visitor behavior on websites was developed under the Smartsupp umbrella. In 2020, it spun off as a separate company called Smartlook.[9][10]
Merger with ABUGO Group (2024)
As of November 1, 2024, Smartsupp became part of the European company ABUGO Group SE, which was formed by merging Smartsupp with Shopsys, Reservio, and Survio under CEO Petr Svoboda's leadership. The holding company's total revenue was just under 300 million CZK at the time of the group's formation.[11][12]
Products and Services
The platform combines live chat functionality with chatbot automation and AI-powered shopping assistance.[13] In 2024, the company launched an AI shopping assistant that utilizes product catalogs, web scraping, and company-uploaded documents to provide automated customer support.[14][15]
Smartsupp offers integrations with several e-commerce platforms, including Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Magento. The platform also includes full integration with Google Analytics 4.[16]
