Shida Shahabi is a Swedish musician and film composer. She studied fine art at the Swedish Royal Institute of Art.[1]
Career
Shahabi began releasing music in 2018 with her debut album Homes. The following year she released the EP Shifts, with cello by Swedish musician Linnea Olsson. [2][3]
She has scored several films, including Charlotte Le Bon's debut feature film Falcon Lake (2022), Teresa Sutherland's Lovely, Dark, and Deep and Thibault Emin's French-Belgian body-horror chamber film Else which premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and also earned her the Festival Trophy at Screamfest in 2024.[4][5][6]
She also scored Halla Ólafsdóttir's 2023 contemporary dance piece Sylph.[7][8][9]
In 2024, she performed at an open air festival curated and headlined by PJ Harvey at London's Gunnersbury Park with Tirzah and Big Thief.[10][11][12]
She's a frequent collaborator with Grammy and Emmy Award winning producer Francesco Donadello, who mastered her records Homes, Shifts, and Living Circle, as well as her film scores to Jennifer Rainsford's Lake on Fire and Maria Eriksson-Hecht's Alvaret.[13][14][15][16]
She is a regular on NTS radio.[17]
