Smilez (stylized as SMILEZ; born 19 April 2002) is an Irish drill and hip hop recording artist associated with the Dublin rap scene, particularly representing the Dublin 24 (D24) area. Smilez gained recognition through collaborations and solo releases within Ireland’s growing drill movement.
Career
Smilez emerged in the Irish rap scene through a series of street-oriented drill releases before gaining wider attention through collaboration with fellow Irish rapper Youngiz.
In 2021, Smilez released the single "Outside" with Youngiz. The track, which reflected themes of life during COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, was accompanied by a music video and received national radio play in Ireland. The release was covered by Irish music publication Hot Press.
Prior to this, Smilez released multiple underground tracks including "Bando" (featuring LayLow), "Fake Love" (with Dubzeno), and "Drop Dat" (with Larry Alabi and A92 member Nikz).
