Ryan Vasquez is an American singer and actor. He is known for his roles in musical theatre on Broadway, including The Notebook and Hamilton. He's currently starring as Christian in the United States national tour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.[1][2]
Career
Vasquez got his education at the University of Michigan, where he performed in productions of The Full Monty, Spring Awakening, and Bat Boy: The Musical. He began his career performing regionally at the Music Theatre of Wichita in many of their musicals from 2012 to 2014.
He made his Broadway debut in 2015, joining the ensemble of Wicked and understudying the role of Fiyero. He joined the original Broadway cast of Waitress in 2016, portraying Jenna's Father and understudying the roles of Dr. Jim Pomatter and Earl Hunterson.[1][3]
From 2017 to 2018, he was featured in the Angelica Company of the United States tour of Hamilton, performing as James Reynolds, the Doctor, and Philip Schuyler. He also understudied the roles of Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, and George Washington. From May to November 2018, he reprised his roles in the Broadway company, also understudying the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. He then became a standby in the Broadway cast from November 2018 to August 2019. From December 2019 to January 2020, he starred in the role of Alexander Hamilton.[1][3] He temporarily left Hamilton in June 2019 to star as Curly McLain in Broadway Sacramento's Oklahoma!. From September to October 2019, he performed Off-Broadway in The Wrong Man as Joshua Henry's alternate.
Vasquez was in the development concert of Gavin Creel's Walk on Through: Confessions of a Museum Novice at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2021. He starred in the pre-Broadway regional productions of the musicals The Notebook (2022) at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, The Outsiders (2023) at the La Jolla Playhouse, and Water for Elephants (2023) at the Alliance Theatre. He also performed as Orin Scrivello in The Muny's Little Shop of Horrors in the summer of 2023. From November 2023 to January 2024, he returned to Walk on Through in its Off-Broadway and world premiere production.[4]
In 2024, he gained prominence for his starring role as Middle Noah in the original Broadway cast of Ingrid Michaelson's The Notebook at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.[5][6][7]
In 2025, Vasquez performed in the Kennedy Center's production of the new musical Schmigadoon!, before starring in Jersey Boys that summer at The Muny.[8] He began starring as Christian in United States national tour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in December 2025.[2]
